and other unusually finished pieces
Raku is a type of firing that is both of Eastern and Western influence.
Each piece is initially electric fired and then coated with one of many glazes that are specific to RAKU firings.
These pieces are then placed in a gas fired or electric kiln that can be opened during firing.
When the kiln reaches 1850 degrees centigrade the kiln is opened and the piece is placed in a container that contains a combustible material. In my case this material is newspaper. The paper catches on fire and the container is closed allowing for a dance between the carbon and oxygen to create the wonderul colors to be placed upon each piece. Making no two piece exactly alike, Nor are the pieces able to be replicated. You will own an original!

Angel
Raku angels are the best seller. Absolutely no two are exacty alike due to the firing process involved in making these charming pieces a treasure that cannot be duplicated.
The angels are hand constructed and stand between 6 and 7 inches tall.
Each has a solid base with a hallow body. Although they look like metal they are made from clay and will break when tipped or dropped.

Ayrshire is known for many things two of them being bovines that produce more milk than any other known breed, fiddles or violins and scottish dancing.
