Andrea Faye
Ceramic Artist
Fired Worsk 2021

Meet the artist
Andrea is very excited to be included in Fired Works this year! She began working with clay in 2000 by taking a six week pottery course through the Fayette County Parks and Recreation department. Little did she know that this weekly retreat from family and responsibilities would become a passion! Andrea continued to attend these classes for several years and developed her skills on the pottery wheel. However, she really enjoyed handbuilding with clay which, she believes, allowed for a greater range of artistic expression. In 2006, Andrea became a student of Karen Beswick a ceramic artist who specialized in Raku firing. Karen taught her a different clay firing technique and provided her with artistic instruction for several years. Sadly, Karen is no longer with us but she has left her legacy in her many students.
Since Karen’s passing, Andrea has continued her education in clay by attending workshops taught by such clay artist greats as: Curtis Denzel, Robin Hopper, Chris Grydner, Gerit Grimm, Shadow May and Bill Van Guilder.
2009 saw the construction of her backyard studio fondly dubbed, Studio B. This was a wonderful gift to Andrea from her parents and her husband. She can often be heard to say, “I am a very luck girl.”
Andrea has been active in such organizations as Fine Arts and Crafts Entrepreneurs (FAACE), The Potters Guild, Newnan Coweta Arts Association, and Ceramics Daily.
Eight years ago, with the help of fellow artisans and friends, Andrea established the first annual Art Studio Tour which featured 10 artists and 9 studios. Keep an eye out for Southern Hands Artist Studio Tour which is held annually on the second full weekend in November throughout Fayette and Coweta Counties.
Along with creating her own clay art, Andrea also instructs in an open studio class consisting of adults interested in creating, building and expressing with clay.
Come let’s learn about the pieces she has in this show.

Fantasy is a unicorn that is raku fired. Her legs have metal stakes under the layer of clay. She is totally hand sculpted. $300.
Mystic is the second unicorn. She is also raku fired and has somewhat shorter metal stakes for legs. She is totally hand sculpted. $300.
Cheyenne is a beautiful horse that is having a little snack of fresh meadow grasses. This horse is raku fired and also has metal stakes under the outer clay cover for legs. $300.

Gangsta Lean: A lidded vessel with a lean and much personality. $75.
Phases: A lovely raku vase with the sun and the moon as a design set in the middle section. Suggest dry flowers but this vase can also hold regular flowers in water. Take care not to wash the outside of this vase when cleaning. $75.
Kings Ransome: A sweet pouch fit for a King. Give it a shake. There are some coins baked into this piece! $25.
Heart Ornaments: These lovely puffed hearts are not just for the Christmas tree! They can hang anywhere you like and at any time during the year. Each one is unique – just like all Raku pieces are and they have their own box which makes them perfect for gift giving. $7.50
Athena: She is just breaking out of her old self and becoming someone new! This fabulous piece will grace any wall in any room. $750.
Peering Through: A fairy in the woods is just peering through the trees. Make up your own story as to why she is peering through. $125.
Mother Nature: A wonderful look at mother nature in her element. $50.
Sconces: There are several lovely sconces that made it through the raku firing. These are not meant to hold anything and will not hold water. To keep them colorful and lovely simply dust. Water and direct sunlight are not a friend of these pieces. $29 to $52.50
Dishes: The hanging raku dishes have exquisite designs and colors! Hang one or more in your home! $20. to $35.

Platters
Dachshund A fun and different type of platter. This platter is fully hand sculpted and waiting to serve up cheese and crackers, cookies, candies, or just a great place to put your mail, keys or sunglasses. Food and dishwasher/microwave safe but I suggest you treat this dog kindly and hand wash. $55.
Small Furry Dogs Theses are beautifully fun dogs that will be the talk of your party when used to serve up just about anything you can think of. Fully hand sculpted, your hand fits nicely into the back of the head for easier carrying and serving. Food and dishwasher/microwave safe but I suggest you treat this dog kindly and hand wash. $125.
Leaf Most of these stunning platters are glazed to resemble metal pieces but they are really clay. These pieces are food safe so feel free to serve up cheese and crackers, cookies, candies, or just a great place to put your mail, keys or sunglasses. A great serving dish! $40.
Feather This platter is somewhat smaller than the leaf platter but just as utilitarian. Some of these platters have a final coating of mother of pearl which gives them a stunning finish to both the platter and the feathers. Food and dishwasher/microwave safe $35.
Login: This dish/platter features turtles sunning themselves on a log. This happens a lot in my home town around our many ponds and lakes. It is fully functional and a nice statement piece for your home. The number of turtles varies and determines the pricing. $120 to $160
Apple Pie: A woven piece of pottery that commands you to bake a pie! Well at least that is what it is saying to me. $85.
Autumn Beauty This lovely handled platter is a favorite of mine! It is colorful and dainty. $75.
Hidden Things: Can you find all of the hidden thing in this platter? $45.
Nautilus Inlaid: This platter had been stamped with a sliced nautilus and then a white clay was inlaid into the darker clay creating the nautilus pattern. $55.
Round in Circles: One of my favorite pieces. The glaze is outstanding. Take a close look at this one. $95.
Genesis: Take a good look at how the glaze formed a picture all its’ own on this platter. Is it a look at the beginning of a life? Or is it the final blow out? A piece for thought. $75.
Fern Bowl: The name says it all. How original, Huh? $45.
Peacock Pattern Pieces
Vases: The vases range in size both in width and height. Some have handles and some do not. All have the lovely Peacock pattern around them and the pattern is also on the bottom of the pieces! The larger vases can handle a full bouquet and the smallest of them will take just a single bud The handled vase just won an honorable mention in a juried art show. You decide which is best for you and your home. $15. to $60.
Mugs The mugs are just perfect for that morning cup of jo or that last cup of cocoa or tea before bed. The mugs are great in the microwave as they will not burn your hand when you reach in to take them out. Also, a good fit for the dishwasher. $35.
Utensil Holder: Simply too big for flowers but just perfect for that counter utensil holder! $45.
Wave Bowls
Wave on a Base: These pieces are wonderful statement pieces on your coffee table, dining table, kitchen island. They are fully functional and make a wonderful serving dish! Yes you can put fruit in them but imagine some crushed ice and shrimp or a beautiful green salad! Don’t have room for them on a table or in a cabinet? Not a problem, as you can hang these lovely pieces on your wall! Now it is also a decoration when not being used as a serving piece. There is one hanging and one on the table top (and possibly 2 under the table) $210.
Golden Lace Wave: This bowl is just as beautiful and functional as the wave bowls on a base. The only difference is that you cannot hang this one on your wall. But you can place it on a stand. $155.
Monster Mugs
These crazy one-of-a-kind creatures are just a lot of fun! They evolved in my studio from toothless big-eyed guys to some with clay teeth inserted in their funky smiles to actual dental implants from dental displays that can be purchased online. I love them and they will bring you joy every day and with every cup of hot or cold beverage that you desire. $30 to $52.50
Okay so let’s be really useful!

Self-draining Soap Holders: This dish will sit on the edge of your sink while holding your wet sticky bar of soap. It will take that wet mess and drain it right into the sink! Perfect during this handwashing pandemic! $20.
Garlic Grater: A useful tool in the kitchen. Once the clove is stripped of it’s skin, simply rub the clove on the pattern in the middle of this dish and voila’ your garlic is grated. Now simply add some spices and olive oil and you have the perfect dip for your fresh French bread. YUM! $15.00
Apple Basket: These woven beauties are so useful in the kitchen! They can hold your mail, fruit, paper towels, napkins, and so much more. With handles or without these are workhorses! $45. And $55.
